We’re up for an award!

Wednesday, May 10, 2017

We’re very excited to announce that we have been nominated for the prestigious ‘What’s On 4 2017 Kids Awards!

These pioneering awards were launched in 2007 to celebrate the UK’s best activities, class leaders, party providers, places and activity-based products for children – as nominated and voted for by the experts – parents, carers and parents-to-be.

A record number of nominations and registrations were received this year, and we are delighted to announce that Baby Bright Eyes is a nominee in the ‘Best Independent Activity for the Under 5s – North’ category which means we will now go through to the national voting stage!

We’d love the chance to go through to the finals, but to do that we need your support. Please, please spare a minute to vote for us here – https://www.whatson4littleones.co.uk/award-voting.asp

Oh and don’t forget to spread the word!

Love from Team BBE x

We’re recruiting…

Monday, August 15, 2016

If you’re passionate about languages and love working with children, then we want to hear from you.

Baby Bright Eyes is expanding, and we’re on the lookout for experienced French and/or Spanish tutors who would love the opportunity to introduce a language to babies and toddlers in and around South Yorkshire.

You must be fluent in your language, fantastic with kids (and pretty good with parents too!) and your own transport is a distinct advantage.

You’d be leading a couple of sessions per week at first, around your schedule, although we’d expect your hours to grow fairly quickly if you want them to.

Interested? Email sam@babybrighteyes.co.uk with your CV and a quick introduction. We look forward to hearing from you!

New sessions for 5-8s!

Saturday, October 18, 2014

At Baby Bright Eyes HQ we’ve been very busy developing a new set of classes aimed at children aged 5-8!

Languages are now part of the curriculum at Key Stage 2. A Baby Bright Eyes class is the perfect way to introduce a second language prior to starting Key Stage 2. Remember, when it comes to learning languages, the earlier the better, so why wait until age 7?

If your child has already moved into Key Stage 2, our classes can be the perfect complement to what they’re learning in school, increasing their confidence and making sure they’re having lots of fun with languages!

Our 5-8 sessions are held in French, Spanish and Italian, and take place during the week after school hours. At the moment they are running in Sheffield only.

The sessions will begin as soon as we get a minimum number of children registered on each one. So please register your interest by emailing sam@babybrighteyes.co.uk

What to expect when you come to Baby Bright Eyes

If you’re thinking about booking a Baby Bright Eyes class, here is a short guide to what you and your little one can expect.

1. A warm welcome

Our groups are small and friendly, and although the age range of the children is fairly big (0-4) we find almost without exception that they feel confident and relaxed in our classes. We recruit our tutors on the basis of their people skills as well as their language ability – they are energetic, friendly, engaging, and, where possible, will respond to the needs of each individual child.

2. A mix of English and the second language

We understand that many of you won’t have any prior knowledge of the language you and your child will be learning – and that’s absolutely fine! We don’t have a fully immersive environment. That is to say, our tutors speak a mix of English and their language, so you’ll always know what’s going on!

Most of our songs are sung first in English and then in the target language. In many cases we will alternate, singing one verse of a song in English and then in the second language. By singing it in English first, it’s easier to identify which words correspond in the other language.

3. Lots of singing!

Speaking of songs, you can expect lots of them when you come to Baby Bright Eyes. Singing is a brilliantly effective way to learn a new language – at any age! Depending on your child’s age, you’ll find that it won’t be too long before they start singing along. And if they haven’t yet reached speaking age, you can be confident that it’s all still going in.

6. Games, music, books and activities

Singing isn’t all we do! We like to play simple games and activities, and read short bilingual story books too, to capture the children’s attention* and ensure the classes are varied and engaging. The Bright Eyed band is a popular element of every class, when we get out our musical instruments and make lots of noise together!

* but don’t worry if their attention wanders. It’s inevitable that they will want to get up and explore from time to time. They’ll still be listening, and taking it all on board.

5. Toys, puppets and props

In order to help all those new words sink in, the children can play with a variety of toys and props while we sing and talk about the objects in question. It could be anything from a train to a ball or even a picnic set!

Our puppets are the highlight of every session. The children adore our little puppet family – almost as much as they love Georgie! But more about him in class!

6. Ideas and tips

Language learning doesn’t stop at the end of the class – what you do at home will really make a difference, and we will help you reinforce what you’ve learnt by equipping you with song sheets, vocab builders and activities to try at home.

Happy new year!

Wednesday, January 8, 2014

This year, why not try something new with the little ones? Baby Bright Eyes offers a bit more than your average baby and toddler group. We sing, play, tell stories and get active – all in another language!

Merry Christmas!

Tuesday, December 10, 2013

Buon natale! ¡Feliz Navidad! Joyeux Nöel!

Merry Christmas to all our customers, friends, family and followers. Thank you for all your support in our very first year – it’s been a rollercoaster ride to say the least, and a lot of fun!

As a token of our appreciation, here is a little festive treat for you. The French version of Jingle Bells has different lyrics to the English one we know and love, but is sung to the same tune.

Keep an eye on the website, as we’ll be giving away a free Christmas craft next week!
